Artista | Nacida el 20 de noviembre de 1974 | Mexicana
Vive y trabaja en la Ciudad de México, México
Carla Aparicio is an interdisciplinary artist whose work spans photography, textiles, performance, and community engagement. She holds a degree in Communication and Advertising, and specialized training in photography at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Santa Monica. In some of her photographic series, Aparicio explores themes of memory, identity, and collective unity through innovative and evolving practices.
Carla's recent project Connections with Sacred Postfeminism is inspired by rituals, women's circles, and the search for origins and interconnections; it arose from the residency she did in 2024 at Lagos | Studios and Residences.
In November of last year, she presented the exhibition From One to a Thousand and from a Thousand to One; the exhibition is a powerful exploration of the Sacred Feminine and its collective unity, where she presented direct photography and other pieces that are images turned into various contemporary media, embodying her constant curiosity and spiritual inquiries.
Aparicio’s practice is a testament to her tireless pursuit of artistic and cultural exchange, as well as her commitment to fostering meaningful connections through art. Her work has been recognized in Handwoven Photography®, a process in which photographs are transformed into handwoven textiles. And it has been exhibited in prestigious venues such as the Museo Tamayo, the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, and Art Baja California. HHer participation in residencies around the world reflects her dedication to collaboration and storytelling.
