This exhibition is the result of a thorough process of research and experimentation by Carla Aparicio. We are very pleased with the result of this initial exhibition, in which she was able to express in different media her deep interest in understanding the collective Unity of the Sacred Feminine, hence the title of the exhibition.

This exhibition is the first experience in which the lagos | studios and residencies extends for more than a year, her work towards a pedagogical process; in this Carla went from expressing herself from the base of the photographic medium, to the use of other contemporary languages ​​and thus being able to capture in video, performance, augmented reality installation, graphics and neon, a work in progress to reassemble her future artistic practice. At the same time, she strengthens the bond of collaboration with other creators.

Carla's dedication, commitment and dedication in this process of creative opening towards new media, require mention; They are the links of strength that she seeks to reorient herself with her other purpose in life: that of her artistic being, which now in the fullness of her time as a mother, she can resume at full speed.

Thus, we welcome you to a space of celebration; which in a certain way is the closing of a cycle, of a manifest declaration of the path that Carla has followed in this teaching-learning process, in which, in addition to obtaining different experiences and expertise in the contemporary art circuit, she has earned the recognition and friendship of the Lagos community.

The exhibition is divided into three stages, which contain multiple layers of readings and understandings. Each stage is made up of groups of works that consolidate the following statements:

Incarnating (oneself) in the goddesses

Re-making (ourselves) in flexibility

Incarnating (oneself) in the goddesses

The tour begins with pieces that narrate the beginning of time, through the image of a petrified tree our belonging on earth is expressed. In a speculative, playful and creative exercise, the simple gesture of photographing the full moon in motion and working with the superposition of the image on cloth and paper, achieves a fine and refined alphabet; in a sort of visual poetic game of re-enunciating the origin from the essence of the feminine lunar centers. Together with this group of photographs, the video of red-hot stones in a temazcal and the video performance strengthen the statement of Reside in one's own space, which is an approximation to current feminisms that enunciate the awareness of focusing (ourselves) on being a present woman and on the knowledge of her self-sustainability.

Re-making (ourselves) in flexibility

In the second group of works there is an approach to remaking ourselves and remaking ourselves with textile flexibility: Through the iconic figure of the giraffe that, from the possibility of a high collar, can observe beyond its immediate space, it allows the means to understand the network of links and ties that we have; that together with the principle of flowing, of going beyond the stiff, contained in the poetics of the piece made with the mat, the light box with the photograph of the stones with water and the network “drawn” with threads, enunciate flexible rigidity. Without seeking to pose a contradiction, these pieces allow us to think of two different and contrary forces that together formulate a third that gives balance. This image of a third force born from two opposites, in unison with the photograph of the ancestral Japanese inkwell, contains the metaphor of reprinting ourselves, rewriting ourselves and making ourselves in the statement of words; In the particular case of Carla's speech, it is done in the figure of Sri Yanta - geometric representation of complex levels and energies of the cosmos - which is in two pieces, one formed by essential words, two opposites + one that gives stability, arranged in triangles and the other by chromatic unity and balance to strengthen sensitivity in the sign of the trinomial, of the sacred feminine in constant flow.

Consolidating (with) unity

In this third group of pieces, the expression of the principle of unity is in the form of the circumference and in the link and dialogue with each of the works. From one to a thousand and from a thousand to one, the title that encompasses the entire exhibition, alludes to the paths from the personal to the social, from the macro to the micro, the link that exists between a woman and all women, the principle of the sacred feminine that is in men and women. By connecting this foundation with the pieces of Piedra corazón and Por habitar, the sacred experience of life is embodied; it explodes in Mi poder de Yo soy, which are the last two pieces in the exhibition's itinerary. The first, a golden sphere, the circle in the third dimension in continuous movement, in the center, since when turning it requires a balance in order not to lose its shape, refers to the fact that power is consumed when the trinomial is inhabited, since it is the balance of the two forces of duality. And the second, the consciousness stated: I am in light.
